A lot of time and effort goes into maintaining a “full puppy” clip for your Poodle. It is mostly seen on puppies exhibited in the U.S. show ring, although there are some pet owners who adore their Poodle in this stunning trim and are happy to pay for the time and expertise the groomer takes in turning out an evenly scissored finish.
- Clip the face, feet and tail, as with the previous instruction.
- Thoroughly groom the coat with a slicker or pin brush, followed by a wide-toothed comb.
- Clip under the stomach and abdomen from the groin to the navel with a No. 10 blade.
- Bathe the dog in a suitable shampoo for the color and condition of the coat and apply a quality conditioner to aid scissor work.
- Blow-dry the hair away from the body, lifting with a pin brush to ensure it does not curl.
- Trim around the bottom of the legs to allow a peep at the toes.
- Snip off the very fine end of hair to an even and dense-looking finish. As the coat grows in length, scissor slightly shorter at the base of the tail, blending the hair up toward the body to obtain an effective, pleasing, glamorous shape.
- Scissor the dog’s tail as you would for the “Lamb” clip.
